A warm welcome to l'Homme de l'Épine , an authentically renovated farmhouse in the Charente, in the sunny southwest of France.
The estate is built with typical Charente natural stone and is situated near picturesque Cellefrouin (between Poitiers and Angoulême), at the end of a quiet dead-end lane approximately 400 km from Paris.
With a panoramic view over the valley, you can enjoy optimal peace, quiet, and privacy here. The ideal spot for hikers, cyclists, and pleasure-seekers. There is a huge amount to experience in the immediate vicinity: from kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, vélorail, and tree climbing to Cognac tastings, charming villages, and amusement parks.

. It is said that you have to fall in love with a house to make it your home. In our search for a holiday home during a tour of France, we stumbled upon this farmhouse ‘for sale’ in a dead-end street in the Charente by chance. The beautiful, authentic barn immediately caught our attention. Because we love a challenge, we couldn't resist - secretly - taking a peek inside the empty farmhouse. Our jaws dropped: beautiful Burgundian floors, a modern, renovated kitchen, spacious, cozy rooms, and a large, charming fireplace… they made our hearts beat faster. When we wanted to drive on, Jean, the neighbor from the nearby farm, came to take a look. We confessed that we were very interested, and Jean immediately offered to give us a tour—subject to the owner's approval. How much luck and coincidence can you actually have? The warm welcome, the cozy atmosphere, the beautifully equipped rooms, the mezzanine… The region with its numerous possibilities also appealed to us greatly. We didn't hesitate for a second. And so it happened. Two days later we had an agreement, and four months later it was ‘our’ house in l’Homme de l’Epine (the man with the thorns). Renovated barn with 3 or 5 bedrooms (up to 7 or up to 13 people - Epine7 or Epine13 in the price list), 4 bathrooms. Every comfort with a fully equipped kitchen, open living space, mezzanine equipped with a foosball table and multimedia. Private swimming pool and covered terrace with a large garden featuring a pétanque court and outdoor toys.

Holiday home Épine + Gîtes Son en Sonnette
For a larger group , the gîtes are ideal as an extension to the holiday home.
Families or friends can then stay in their own gîte (privacy) and still enjoy the house together and undertake activities together .
There are a total of 10 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms for a maximum of 23 people (families with children).

4 hours from Paris: Orleans, Tours, Poitiers, Cellefrouin
Parking is available outside (under the nut trees) or within the grounds.
By train TGV > book with SNCF
The station in Angoulême is 35 minutes from the holiday home.
From Tourcoing you can reach Angoulème in 4h15 by TGV.
There is a train (almost) daily at 6 am that arrives in Angoulème at 10:15 am (from €19).
You can reserve a car directly with your train ticket (from €80)
There is a train (almost) daily at 5:30 PM that takes you back to Tourcoing at 10:15 PM (from €19).
By plane
Angoulême – Cognac International Airport is located 30 minutes from the holiday home.
Limoges-Bellegarde Airport is 55 minutes away and Poitiers - Biard Airport is 1h15m away.
Bordeaux–Mérignac Airport, which flies to and from everywhere , is located a little further away, 1 hour and 50 minutes from the house.

Outside of the holidays, you can book from as little as 2 days or a (long) weekend.
Outside of the holidays, a holiday home with a private pool in a 3-bedroom version is available for rent at an affordable price.
